Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Scramble FC ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use the Scramble FC iOS application — a football anagram game in which you unscramble club, player and national-team names.

The short version. Scramble FC has no account and does not ask for your name. Your scores, streak and settings are stored on your device. When you tap Hint, a short request is sent to our backend and AI provider to generate one clue. We use OneSignal to send push notifications you opt into, and AppsFlyer to measure which ad brought you to the app. The game plays exactly the same whether or not you allow tracking.

1. Information we process

a. Hint requests

When you tap Hint during a round, the app sends a request to our backend (a Cloudflare Worker, which forwards to the AI provider Groq) so it can generate one playful clue. The request contains the fixed game context for that round (the answer word, its category and a few stock facts) — not your identity. The letters you type as guesses are checked entirely on your device and are never sent anywhere. If you never use hints, the app makes no network requests for gameplay.

b. Game data on your device

Your best score, current streak and settings (timer, sound, haptics, difficulty) are stored only on your device using the system's standard local storage. Resetting your statistics or deleting the app removes this data.

c. Push notifications — OneSignal

If you allow notifications, OneSignal assigns your installation a push token so we can send reminders (for example, a new Daily Challenge). OneSignal processes the push token together with basic device and app information needed to deliver notifications. You can turn notifications off any time in iOS Settings.

d. Attribution & advertising measurement — AppsFlyer

We use AppsFlyer to measure which marketing campaign led to your install. AppsFlyer processes device identifiers and install/session events. If you grant tracking permission, this may include the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA).

e. Diagnostics

Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized crash and performance data through App Store Connect if you have opted in to share diagnostics in iOS. This is handled by Apple and does not identify you.

2. App Tracking Transparency

iOS asks your permission before the app can track you across other apps and websites. If you deny, AppsFlyer will not use the IDFA. Scramble FC plays exactly the same either way — no feature is gated behind it. Change it any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

  • To generate a one-line hint when you ask for one.
  • To send notifications you have opted into.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • To keep the app stable through aggregated diagnostics.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data retention

Data on your device remains until you reset your statistics or delete the app. Hint requests are processed to produce a clue and are not stored by us to build a profile. Data handled by our providers follows their standard retention periods.

6. Children

Scramble FC is suitable for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your choices

  • Notifications — turn off any time in iOS Settings.
  • Tracking — deny or revoke in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Hints — optional; skip them and no hint data leaves your device.
  • Game data — "Reset statistics" in the app's Settings clears your scores and streak.
  • Requests — email us to ask a question or request deletion of any data associated with your device.

8. Security

Requests to our backend are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and are gated by a shared secret. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited data we process.

9. International users

Our providers may process data on servers outside your country. By using Scramble FC you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest version. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
